The
trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released today. I've been a huge fan of the series forever.
Raiders of the Lost Ark was the first video tape my family ever owned, back when VHS was new and shiny. I gave serious thought to the field of archeology when I was in school, and even took a a couple of courses in college. All because I wanted to be Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr. if I grew up.
I'm excited about the new movie. I was a little worried, as Harrison Ford is getting a bit long in the tooth for such a physically punishing role, but as soon as I saw the first pictures from the set of him back in the old costume, I felt better. Sure, they're going to use a lot of CGI and stunt doubles for the effects now, rather than dragging actors behind trucks, but I can forgive that. If the trailer is any indication, this is going to feel like another seamless installment in the series. The special action-adventure feel of the Indiana Jones movies is what makes the series, in my mind. Everyone has tried to duplicate it at one time or another, but few, if any, get it just right. The trailer shows they got it perfect this time, and I, for one, cannot wait to see it on the big screen.
Mark your calendars for May 22, 2008.

Mmm, me too! I even dodged out of my math degree for a semester, into Anthropology. Sadly, even LESS chance of making a living, that way.
I wish I could share the viewing of the following with you. I don't know where all they might be showing it, this year, but this adaptation, by 12 year olds, is the most amazing movie I have ever seen. Yes, Indiana himself is better, in some ways, but the pure heart, the balls of these little kids... the adoring attention to detail.. man, they're just awesome. And even now, as 30somethings who have come back together, they know they made magic, back when they made this:

I'm with you on that. Indy has been my hero as long as I can remember having heroes. One last time for the magic would be perfect. And would probably guarantee I see it in the theater more then once, then the dollar cinema a couple times before I buy the DVD (though I want to hold out for the boxed set with the other 3).

Same here, Indy was was my inspiration for being a history/archaeology major in college. Even though they said I'd only need a whip with teaching, and the pistol was not recommended. I'm really hoping Crystal Skull matches the other movies, I'd like the magic again please :)
