Once upon a time, author and podcaster
J.C. Hutchins asked for help from his fans. He asked us all to promote his latest project,
7th Son: Obsidian to our friends. Being a huge fan, I was all about it I sent out the requisite emails and even figured out how to embed his
audio promo in a post. Everything went well, and I heard that same promo over a dozen times in various podcasts that week.
I had completely forgotten, however, that J. C. had said that one lucky person would win a t-shirt for pimping out
Obsidian. So his email that I was that winner came as a complete surprise. Sure enough, he hooked me up with an awesome Beta Clone t-shirt, #234. I am naturally ecstatic to finally have one, and I love the number.

This was also a huge victory for USPS customer service. Yesterday, I saw on their tracking site that the package had arrived at the post office Monday morning, but it wasn't in my mailbox yet. I called them, and managed to get through just a few minutes before they closed for the day. I explained the situation, and the guy on the phone confirmed with my carrier that no packages for my address had gone out. So he took all the relevant information and promised to call me back when he found out what was happening. At that late hour, I didn't expect a call until the next morning, but he got back to me a little later in the evening. Apparently during sorting he had tossed the box into the wrong bin, and the wrong route carrier had taken it out. It was back at the post office, and he could send it out the next day. Sure enough, when I got home from work today, it was waiting for me. Pretty much picture-perfect customer service.
