Podcast Fiction Done Right

Escape PodToday while I worked I decided to queue up the latest episode from , the Science Fiction Podcast Magazine.  I've been listening to the podcast for quite some time now, and have found several gems in their stream.  This morning, I had the pleasure of listening to what I think is my absolute favorite story they've done so far, "How I Mounted Goldie, Saved My Partner Lori, and Sniffed Out The People’s Justice" by Jonathan Sullivan. The story itself is well-written and a whole lot of fun.  It's a tale of police adventure, told from the prospective of one officer giving his statement to a review board.  What really made the experience for me was Steve Eley's almost manic reading for the character of Officer Bull.  His voice, cadence, and intonation were all absolutely spot-on for the character, and really brought him to life for me.  This may well be his best voice work to date. If you only ever listen to one podcast short story, try this one out.  You won't be sorry, especially if, like me, you're a dog person.
