Due to an increase in the amount of spam I've been having coming through the server, particularly since I opened up user registration, I've decided I needed to take some extra measures to verify that those wishing to register or comment are, in fact, human. Or, at least, aren't spambots. To this end, I've installed a plugin that implements the reCAPTCHA anti-bot system for comment and registration forms.
What this means for you is that if you are leaving an anonymous comment (that is, if you are commenting without logging in), you will see a box below the comment form similar to this one:

It will display two words from digitized books and require you to type in the words in order to submit your comment. It has the side benefit of helping to correct the digitized works by confirming text which cannot be properly parsed by OCR software. If you have trouble reading the text it gives you, simply click on the

button to get a new pair of words.
I realize this makes the comment system more complicated, and I do apologize for that. You are welcome to register with the site using the
Register link on the right. The reCAPTCHA system is disabled if you're logged in. In addition, if you check the Remember Me box on the login form, you shouldn't have to log in each and every time you want to make a comment. I find this preferable to simply disabling anonymous commenting, which would probably drive many visitors to not comment at all.
Thank you for your patience. Let me know if you run into any difficulties.

Heh, Deryck, all you need to do is start using stumbleupon.com. In the last 24 hours, I've gotten almost 350 views on a single article, thanks to them :P
Paul, It's fun to play with. No need to reload the whole page, though, the little reload button in the reCAPTCHA block will reload just the words :)
