Ever since I first read
Jaws
, I've been a huge fan of the giant shark novels.
Peter Benchley captivated me with a story made so terrifying because it seemed so plausible. So it was almost a foregone conclusion when I came across
Natural Selection
at the check out counter of my local drug store, that I would have to buy it. I mean, look at that cover! It's got a giant mouth full of teeth coming at me from the depths. And when I picked it up, here's what the back cover told me:
A shocking biological discovery
A previously unknown predatory species. Evolving just like the dinosaurs. Now. Today. Weaving science and thriller in a way not seen since Jurassic Park, Natural Selection introduces a phenomenally dangerous new species that is rapidly adapting in a way never before seen. When the scientists tracking it begin dying, the stakes are upped even further. Then the real hunt begins....
Whoa! Someone over at
Hyperion Books knows me very well indeed! They hit a bunch of my hot-button topics for this genre: dinosaurs, evolution, new species, comparisons to
Jurassic Park
, dangerous science. How could I resist. This should be the perfect book for me, right?
