Zombiegeddon

Last night, just as I was finishing the latest round of updates for this site (an overhaul of the movie review system) I got a tweet from one of my Xbox Live friends asking if I was up for some Left 4 Dead action.  Ordinarily, I'd have been all over it, but I was too wiped, so I begged off.  Tonight, though, as soon as I got my daughter tucked into bed, I got online and let him know I was ready to fight the apocalypse.

Fortunately, I had some time to wait while he got online, and did a quick check to see when the long-awaited downloadable content might be coming.  As it turns out, Valve announced a date late last month: April 21!  With Survival Mode and Versus support for an additional two campaigns, I imagine I'll be back to playing every night by the end of that week.  I can't wait!

Jessika sent to a review of J. Michael Straczynski's script for the upcoming World War Z movie. I absolutely loved the book; it is hands down the best zombie fiction I have ever read. Max Brooks really put his finger on what the zombie war will really be all about, from a wide variety of points of view. It's these differing points of view that really make the story work, and part of me had grave doubts indeed about them making it work for a movie. I figured the feature film was inevitable when production companies owned by Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio got into a bidding war for the movie rights before the book even came out. You don't spend that kind of money to sit on the rights and not make a movie. I worried a bit less when I found out JMS was attached as the screenwriter.
