Last night, Gene didn't make it to our gaming session, but we decided to forge ahead without him. We joked over the course of the evening that I was carrying his character around on my back much like Chewbacca carried the disassembled C3P0 in The Empire Strikes Back. We needed the character, you see, as he was the one with the wand of healing.
So last night we finally got to start playing in our full metal fantasy campaign.
The adventure brought us together in one of the standard fantasy role-playing tropes: we were hired to guard a caravan. the first two weeks of our trip were completely uneventful, but as we got close to our destination and entered the Widow's Woods, the caravan was ambushed by "gobbers." These little guys were apparently some kind of swamp goblin. Pretty easy to kill, especially if you're a huge half-orc with a greatsword. 1d10+3 damage is your friend!
Starting a new gaming group is always an adventure.
Tonight I headed out to the Little Shoppe of Games after work to day to meet a gaming group Lane told me would be starting up an Iron Kingdoms campaign. He said this group tends to be pretty laid back about making it in every week, which I need because I have dinner with my daughter on alternate Mondays before driving her to ballet class. He said they often wind up with a large group one week, and people playing multiple characters to cover for each other the next. Sounded like a group worth checking out, and definitely another way to support my local gaming shop.
