The Soen campaign is the brainchild of Liz and Matt. Rather than run with the tried and true "Ok, so you guys are in a tavern..." intro which begins all too many unimaginative campaigns, they came up with a well-fleshed-out world in which to set the story. The King has outlawed magic, and his inquisitors are found throughout the land punishing the offenders. We, the player characters, were children when this happened, and our parents sent us to live in a remote monastery to escape the tyranny, at least temporarily. As the campaign continues, we're finding ourselves to be increasingly major players in the subversive underground.
It's been a lot of fun so far, and the amount of work Liz and Matt put into the world and it's background really shows.
